Helix wins place on London HA framework to deliver ‘significant’ build programme

Newbury-based builder and consultant, Helix Group, has been appointed a preferred building partner for three West London housing associations to help deliver their “significant development programmes”.

Helix, an SME builder founded in 2017 by a group of friends with decades of large contractor experience, will help the members of the Connected Partnership – Octavia Housing, Origin Housing and Shepherds Bush Housing Group – through their Contractors Preferred Supplier List.

This preferred supplier list is for projects costing less than the European Union threshold of £4.7m. Together the Connected Partnership members already provide 16,000 homes in North and West London and the Home Counties and have “significant development programmes”, according to Helix.

Through the Contractors Preferred Supplier List the three housing associations want to continue focusing “primarily on new-build accommodation for private rent, private sale, intermediate, shared ownership and affordable rent through both Connected-led and Section 106 schemes”.

The Connected Partnership, established in 2005 to “meet the challenges of developing affordable housing in the South East of England”, also builds care schemes, regeneration projects and some community, retail and commercial buildings.

Nic Davies, managing director at Helix, said: “This is a hugely important moment for us and our growth as a local SME builder in London and the Thames Valley. The team is proud to already have delivered a tricky project in Kensington for Octavia, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to support colleagues there as well as at Origin and Shepherds Bush HG on their significant development programmes.”

Nic added: “At Helix, we are all about providing a great customer service from start to finish. We are clear that this approach ensures we are able to deliver homes to the highest quality standards – every time.

“As we continue to emerge from the COVID-19 lockdown, we are ready to hit the ground running with the Connected Partnership and get on with providing the range of homes needed to tackle the housing crisis across our region.”

Helix Group has been appointed to Lots 1 and 2 of the Contractors Preferred Supplier List. Helix came top of Lot 1, to deliver projects up to £2m in value. It was also in the top three in Lot 2, for schemes costing between £2m – £4.7m.

The Connected Partnership win is the latest in a series of successes for Helix Group, that has seen it win places on frameworks with other large housing associations including Notting Hill Genesis and Places for People.
