Expanding construction firm makes new design appointment

Construction firm, Helix, has appointed a new Head of Design to lead its design team and continue its expansion into the future.

Andrew Gullett brings more than 25 years of experience to the Newbury-based construction business, where he will continue to build on Helix’s growth and achievements to date.

Andrew, who is based in West Oxfordshire, started his career in London with Taylor Woodrow Construction and went on to work with housing contractors, including Willmott Dixon Housing and Hill Group.

Joining the Helix team as Head of Design, where he will head up the technical and design department, Andrew brings a wealth of knowledge to the fast-growing construction firm.

One area Andrew wants to focus on is continuing Helix’s strong relationship with partners and building a network of design consultants to work alongside:

“Helix is a young company but has experienced huge growth already. I want to see us continuing to work with great companies, building trust and communication, and expanding the business while continuing to provide a fantastic service to clients.”

Andrew added:

“There are several large projects that Helix is working on right now, which is exciting to see. I’m looking forward to seeing the business grow, and to playing my own part in that.”

Helix works as a contractor on sites across the Southeast, with a particular focus on building affordable housing. Expert at constructing homes in large numbers, the company is very aware of the importance of using clean, energy-efficient methods and technologies in their construction sites, new homes and even its own offices.

Andrew has seen many changes in the residential sector throughout his career and says the government’s push to reduce carbon emissions, coupled with changes to Building Regulations following the Grenfell Tower tragedy, bring challenges but also huge opportunities for exciting new technologies to be included in construction design and housebuilding.

Speaking of Andrew’s appointment to the team, Managing Director Nic Davies said:

“We couldn’t be happier to have Andrew joining the team. Several Helix colleagues have worked with Andrew in the past, and we know him to be a truly knowledgeable member of the construction sector who will build great relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners alike.

“His appointment demonstrates our ongoing investment in our design team and reiterates our commitment to design quality and standards across all our projects. Andrew will help us to grow, innovate, and continue to deliver excellent homes and projects, and we’re all looking forward to working alongside him.”
