When Oliver Pearce, Assistant Quantity Surveyor for Helix, isn’t out on site or working in the office, you’ll find him running.
Oliver is training for the fast-approaching London Marathon, which takes place on April 23rd, which he will be running in honour of a family member sadly lost to mental health struggles in 2021.
Oliver is raising money for Mind, and has already achieved a fantastic amount of sponsorship including a donation from his proud employers who were more than happy to support his marathon fundraising and this great charity. But he needs more to reach his target of £2000 for Mind, which offers mental health support and fights for all sufferers to get the help they need, 1 in 4 people across England and Wales.
Running for Lesley Dunn, who Oliver says is missed and thought of every day, he says:
“Words can’t describe how painful this kind of loss is for a family, which is why charities like Mind are so important. Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
“I’m running for Lesley and everyone like her who needs support, appropriate services and understanding of mental illness. I hope by sharing Lesley’s story we can spread awareness for mental health and suicide. Every penny donated will be so appreciated and will go towards helping those like our wonderful Lesley who need the help of charities like Mind.”
Paula Frame, Resident & Community Liaison Manager for Helix, added:
“We’re really proud to have a marathon runner in our team and wish Oliver all the best with the run. The fact that he’s chosen to run for a charity so close to heart means we’re even more determined to support him and get his fundraising over the line and will of course be cheering for him on the big day.”
