A team of employees from Helix have successfully climbed Pen Y Fan, joined by members of local charity Home-Start West Berkshire, who the funds raised will support, including Gill Foster, who has been a Home-Start volunteer for 25 years.
Helix has been corporate sponsor of Home-Start West Berkshire for five years, raising funds for the charity through various treks, initiatives, and events.
This years’ event was our fourth annual trek, which has raised as much as £5000 in sponsorship in previous years.
Home-Start West Berkshire supports families in need of financial, practical, or emotional support, recruiting and training volunteers to coordinate weekly groups, events, a Baby Bank, and regular home visiting.
Donations raised by the scaling of Pen Y Fan will go towards the charity’s Early Years Communication Project, which will support children across West Berkshire experiencing speech, language, and communication delay.
Nic Davies, Helix Group’s Chief Executive Officer, commented on the fundraising plans: “It is important to us as individuals and as a business to support local communities and projects, and our work in supporting Home-Start West Berkshire is one way of doing so. We are proud to be their corporate sponsor and to help them to continue their amazing work in training fantastic volunteers and supporting so many local families.”
Grace Green, Director of Home-Start West Berkshire, said: “We can’t emphasise enough the difference that having this support means to Home-Start West Berkshire. Children need help in their critical early years to support essential brain development. Communication skills help children to build the foundations necessary for numeracy and literacy.
“With fundraising from the Helix Team, we can support children to reach their potential now and in the future – thank you to all the team at Helix.”
